With the unprecedented regulations, including social distancing and lockdown disrupting the day-to-day lives, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has indeed become an inflection point for businesses. Food service providers, in particular, are bearing the brunt of this downturn more than anyone else in the industry. Along with the COVID-19 protocols, they are struggling to meet the growing demands for cashless payments, online ordering, as well as self-service checkout options. In a nutshell, there's no better time than today for these food service providers to have a robust point-of-sale (POS) system in place. The right POS system will not only help a business become more efficient and flexible but also profitable as it streamlines the overall operations, from orders and payments to the entire accounting process.

This is where ARBA Retail Systems grabs the spotlight. As a leading POS system and inventory management software provider, ARBA Retail Systems has been successfully implementing contactless POS systems even before the pandemic fuelled the trend.

ARBA Retail Systems offers Online Ordering and Self-Service Kiosks, integrated with contactless payment methods for various food services locations, including cafeterias and coffee bars. ARBA's solutions help companies save time and increase revenue, and most importantly, keep the customers and employees safe. "Our experience within the retail and food service industry, as well as insights from our clients help us address the emerging needs of food services providers," asserts Jose de la Torre, Executive Vice President at ARBA Retail Systems.

ARBA Retail Systems' arsenal of solutions includes POS, inventory control, and cafeteria and coffee bar management systems with employee payroll deductions, accounts receivable, draw-down accounts, credit & debit card processing, gift cards, and customer loyalty programs. Considering the increasing customer demand for online ordering due to the pandemic, ARBA Retail Systems has developed its online portal solution wherein clients can seamlessly order from a company's website or a phone app. The company's online payment option offers multiple cashless payment solutions, including ArbaRapidPay (payroll deductions), credit cards, declining balance accounts, and charges to a company or a department. ArbaRapidPay allows employees to use their ID badges instead of credit cards or cash to purchase items.

The system will report the amount to deduct from the employee's payroll for a pay period to the client’s payroll system.

"ArbaRapidPay seamlessly integrates with our Cashier-Operated Registers, Online Ordering, and Self-Service Kiosks. About 85 percent of our clients leverage the automatic payroll deduction feature as part of our POS solution," states Jose de la Torre.

Today, ARBA Technology, Inc. (dbaARBA Retail Systems) serves multiple businesses across the industries, including cafeterias, coffee shops, retail, gift shops, pet stores, and dermatology organizations. The company's expert internal development team continually enhances its POS system and develops new features for its food services clients. For example, the recent inclusions include the patient room service feature, the kitchen display systems that can be integrated with the cafeteria orders, and the enterprise multi-store feature that's highly beneficial for food service management providers serving multiple clients. The company had a nutritionist and medical team led by its research associate, Faizan Osmani, which assisted them in focusing on developing the patient room service feature for its food services clients in the healthcare industry. From the business requirements that were gathered, through extensive research of currently existing patient room service solutions, interviews with physicians, dieticians, nursing staff, and patient room captains, 'Faizan Osmani and team' translated business requirements into technical specifications, which helped the ARBA technical team. ARBA built and developed this patient room service component into our food services solution for the hospitals. Faizan Osmani’s team also collaborated extensively with the hospital food service staff, including dieticians and nutritionists, to develop menus for patients with diabetes, heart disease, and high cholesterol, in addition to patients in post- operative and critical care.

In addition, the company's in-house support team offers 24/7 help desk support for all clients on an ongoing basis and helps them keep their POS systems up and running. ARBA Retail Systems also provides several user manuals and online training videos to help clients become more familiar with its systems.

Over the years, ARBA's solutions have successfully helped many clients overcome their hurdles. In one instance, a large healthcare organization that was struggling to manage their disparate systems and out-of-date food services operations approached ARBA for help. The client wanted to consolidate the systems into a multi-channel enterprise solution. ARBA Retail Systems incorporated several food service solutions for the cafeterias and coffee shops, including cashier-operated registers, self-service kiosks, online ordering, internal catering, take-home meals, and patient room service solutions. The well-integrated solutions made it easier for the healthcare organization to manage different areas, including multiple kitchen production areas. "This provided them with a complete view of their operations and sales. They're also able to control the menus in their different areas from one centralized back-office location," says Jose de la Torre.

Having been a market leader in payment solutions for all types of businesses for over three decades, ARBA Retail Systems continually reinvests in the R&D of its POS solutions. In the near future, the company plans to provide its solutions in an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) platform with the latest Microsoft Azure web services technologies. "With an aim to serve customers better, we'll continue to expand food and beverage solutions, including the kitchen display systems, alongside developing additional enterprise reporting capabilities," notes Jose de la Torre.

ARBA Retail System releases Microservices on Azure

LISLE -ARBA Retail Systems, announced today the release of our completely rewritten POS platform in Microservices for our Hospital retail and cafeteria customers in addition to our other corporate customer base as well.
The new POS solution design and architecture leverages the intelligent azure cloud by using Microservices with the following benefits to our customers:
1. Microservices architecture helped us build applications where each service or function is built and deployed independently. The architecture is distributed where failure of one component will not break other components of the application or the entire application,
2. Microservices applications meet changing business requirements and can enable our customers to bring new features and functionalities to market faster,
3. Microservices allows us to manage new releases seamlessly. Feature updates and fixes can be implemented in individual functional components without having to redeploy the entire application,
4. Microservices’ individual services and subsystems can be scaled without scaling the entire application. A single host can pack higher density of services using a container orchestrator like AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service),
5. Individual services can be replaced or retired without affecting the entire application. The application model in Microservices can tolerate individual service failure without impacting the whole application, thereby improving reliability, uptime and security of the entire application suite,
6. Each Microservice allows us to choose preferred deployment approach, language, platform and programming model. Microservices APIs can be published for internal and external consumption while managing concerns regarding authentication, authorization, caching, transformation, throttling and management, with Azure API Management.
ARBA’s Microservices solution on Azure is the only POS solution that leverages all aspects of the intelligent cloud such as Azure, since it was built on the cloud, as compared to migration of legacy POS solutions to the cloud, which are then hosted on the cloud. The solution’s flexibility, security, performance, up-time, proactive support differentiates our solution with most of the other hospital and corporate retail and cafeteria solutions in the market today.
