Food delivery platforms can simplify ordering considerably and allow customers to position orders across all possible channels such as social media, virtual assistants, smart devices, vehicles, and so on.

Delivery with robots

The evolution of AI technology is giving rise to delivery of cars and robots that are self-driving. Only Eat and Starship Innovations, for example, have built moving pavement droids in the UK to deliver food. These six-wheeled droids will fly in a 10-mile radius up to 4 miles per hour and provide takeaway. The droids use a GPS signal and cameras to navigate. The customer needs to enter a code once a droid has arrived at its destination.

In partnership with tech start-ups Marble and Yelp, Eat24 has developed autonomous delivery robots around an office copier's size. To decide the most precise route and avoid bumps with pedestrians, pets, motorcycles, and other devices, these robots use cameras, Lidar sensors, and high-resolution 3D city maps.
